Bio-sketch
Prof. O. P. Thakur has been serving as a Professor at Netaji Subhas University of Technology (formerly NSIT, University of Delhi) under the Government of NCT of Delhi since 2006, with over 19 years of service at the institution. He has more than 37 years of teaching experience in the fields of Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, and Materials Science. Prof. Thakur has consistently received the highest student satisfaction ratings, as reflected in student feedback reports.
His current research focuses on Next-generation Functional Materials, particularly the fabrication and characterization of 2D materials such as MXenes, rGO, and CNTs; rare-earth and transition-metal-doped Ferrites; Multiferroics; Perovskites; Metal oxides; and their nanocomposites for applications in Energy Storage, Sensing, and Energy Conversion. These applications include Supercapacitors, Gas sensing, Photocatalysis, Hydroelectric Cells, Perovskite Solar Cells, and EMI shielding.
Prof. Thakur is the founder and in charge of the “Materials Analysis and Research Laboratory,” established in 2011 for the synthesis and characterization of advanced materials. The laboratory supports cutting-edge research in Materials Science and provides a conducive research environment for Ph.D. scholars and researchers working in the aforementioned areas.
He has supervised 24 Ph.D. theses, of which 19 candidates have been awarded the Ph.D. degree, while 5 candidates are currently pursuing their doctoral research under his guidance. He has published 186 research papers, including 117 papers in SCIE-indexed journals with an average impact factor exceeding 4.1, and 69 papers in Scopus-indexed international journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. He also holds one granted Indian patent and has three published Indian patents.
Prof. Thakur has held several Academic Administrative Positions, including Dean, Faculty of Management Studies; Dean, Undergraduate Studies; Dean, Faculty Affairs; Head of Department; Director-IQAC; NEP 2020 Nodal Officer; IQAC Coordinator; and Superintendent of Examinations. He has also contributed extensively to institutional development through various responsibilities assigned by the university authorities from time to time. In addition, he has served as an external member on the panels of experts of several academic and statutory bodies.
